to start off, i just have to say that apple's artwork elegantly captures vivid light and atmosphere that i want to emulate with my own art. the saturated, vibrant shades of green are mesmerizing and i still can't stop staring.
i was inspired by how this comic is somewhat tangential to their main The Match Alight story, yet still showcases the charm and mystique of their characters from another angle in a short and sweet, self-contained story.

for this particular comic, i was especially drawn towards tenet #2. it inspired the imagery of the cover and the climax of the comic. i was also raised catholic, so of course i'm not immune from garden of eden and apple imagery.
